I was fortunate to be able to get a supernumary role in the San Diego Opera production of Turandot by Giacomo Puccini back in January 2004. I was selected to play one of the handmaidens of Princess Turandot. This gave me a great appreciation for the opera after hearing all the rehearsals. What an experience! It took a lot of time but it was well worth it!
These quotes came from the San Diego Union Tribune:
"Take artist David Hockney's version of Puccini's Turandot. It returned to San Diego Opera after a seven year absence to open the company's 39th season at the Civic Theatre."
"This Turandot is a grand undertaking. It gives special meaning to San Diego Opera's slogan: We make music worth seeing."
"Some opera productions are so spectacular that they deserve to be seen again and again."
Here are a few pictures that show the beautiful costumes.
